Now it is time to download the poker software. Some poker sites also have an online version of their client that you can use in your webbrowser, but I advice you to always download the client as it’s faster and usually easier to use. The poker client for most poker sites is a small self installing file that you download, so this shouldn’t take you a long time.
Ones you’ve downloaded and installed your poker client you have to sign up for a poker account. On our example site, Cake poker, you sign up and register your account clicking “sign up” client you’ve downloaded. Then you will be taken to a website where you fill in your account information. This is what it is like at most poker sites. On some sites you have to sign up for an account on their website, before you download the client.
Anyways, it’s important that you give correct information when signing up for the poker site of your choice. Name, address, birth day and phone number is usually what they ask for. Don’t worry, hardly any pokersites send you stuff in the mail or call you up. They need this info so that you can prove who you are if you happen to loose your password, and it also needs to be correct if you want to register your bank account later on to withdraw money. Many poker sites also offers to send you expensive gifts that you can buy for player points to loyal players.

At Cake poker the sign up process is a two step process, you fill out your name and address once you try to deposit. On the first sign up page at Cake it’s important that you fill in our referral code “GSPOKER”. You need to click a confirmation link in an email they send to you before you can log in to your account. Once you’re done go to step 3.
