This is the last part of the guide for those who already know how to play the game of poker. All you need to do now is to find a good poker table to play at. Most poker players play at several tables at the same time, some over 20 at once! This takes some practice to do, so I suggest you start with only one table. Most poker sites have lots of different poker games and stakes available, and I suggest picking the game you’re most familiar with. For most people that would probably be no limit holdem.
Clicking on no limit holdem you will find all the tables listed by stakes, hundreds and hundreds of them. Usually there is a filter function so you only list the tables at the stake you want to play at. The standard buy in at no limit holdem online is 100 big blinds, so if you pick a $0.05/$0.10 table you can buy in for maximum $10 and minimum $2. I suggest buying in for maximum all the time, but don’t play at a stake you can’t afford.
The standard rule most online poker players follow is to never buy in for more than 5% of your money in one game, that means you should have 20 buy in’s for the game. With say $200 you can then play maximum $0.05/$0.10 no limit buying in for $10.
Now you’ve done everything you need to do to start playing online poker. If you already know how to play poker live, you can use the same strategies when you play online, and there is no need for you to read the rest of the guide. If you’ve never played the game of poker before at all, I suggest you spend a few hours going through the rest of the step by step guide starting at step 5 – Learning the basics of poker.
