Welcome to GettingStartedPoker.com, a websites teaching people how to make a good extra income from online poker. Poker is different to all other casino games in the way that you make money from other players, and not from the casino itself, all the casino does is to take a small fee for playing at their tables. Poker is a skill games with luck involved, but over the long term the better players will consistently make money. That is why people can consistently make a good income from poker, but not from other casino games like roulette and slots.
If you enjoy computer games, card games or board games, I am certain that you will enjoy online poker. For me online poker is a fun recreational activity, just as playing a normal computer game would be, but I actually make good money doing it. I consider it a strategy game, and the more I play and study the game, the more money I make. Tens of thousands of players all around the world are making high four and even five figure incomes a month playing online poker, better than most full time jobs. I would guess there are at least 100-200 players making more than $1 million US a year from online poker alone.
Where does the money come from you may ask? It comes from all the people just playing poker for fun without taking the game seriously, loosing a few hundred dollars here and there. At any given time of the day there are several hundred thousand people playing poker over all the online pokersites, the total poker revenue was $5.9 billion in 2008 according to Financial times.
You won’t become a millionaire over night starting with online poker, but if you’re used to strategy games and a quick learner earning close to $1,000 your first month shouldn’t be too hard. It will only take you a few hours reading through this step by step guide to get started. If you already know how poker is played about 20 minutes to go through the first 4 steps of the guide should be enough. You don’t have to make any large deposits either, I started with as little as $50 myself.
